  • Are you an-ex guide or scout?
  • Do you enjoy the outdoors?
  • Do you have a sense of adventure?
  • Do you find it rewarding to help others get the best out of life?

2nd Bulford (St Leonards) Scout Group is looking for Leaders to add to our great team and help with running the sections at our local venue on Milston Road in Bulford.

The Group is split into sections:

  • Beavers 6-8 years old – Tuesdays 1800-1930
  • Cubs 8-10½ years old – Wednesdays 1800-1930
  • Scouts 10½-14 years old – Fridays 1830-2030
  • Explorers 14-18 years old – Thursdays 1900-2100

All of our Leaders are volunteers, and they work to ensure that the sections run with a varied, rewarding, and fun programme of activities. The Leaders work in teams to provide a safe, secure, and engaging environment for our young people.

The minimum time commitment for volunteering is about 4 hours per week to include planning and preparation of programmed activities as well as the session time with the young people. However, there are additional opportunities to support when we have camps or other activities at weekends or over school holiday periods. In reality, many of our current Leaders commit more time than the minimum.

To be a Leader, you do not need to be available every week. It is a volunteer role and so it is possible to shape any commitment to suit your personal circumstance. There is a minimum mandatory requirement of DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and training that covers the key policies and provides guidance on safety and safeguarding. It also requires basic first aid. All training is provided free, and most is online and does not take long to complete.

If this sounds like something that you may be interested in, then please get in touch. We are always happy to discuss in more detail and would always suggest you “try before you buy” and come and see us in action before committing to anything.
